Musescore 4: Custom time signature issue
Dear all,
I am trying to arrange a piece for which I need a 15/16 time signature for a particular measure. When creating a custom time signature using the applicable palette, it only seems to result in a time signature that is visually 15/16.
When checking the measure properties, the nominal remains 4/4 (resulting in redundant rests at the end of the measure), and I can only change the 'actual' values.
Is this a bug in Musescore 4, or am I missing something here?
Thanks in advance for your support!
Kind regards,
Hillen

"Is this a bug in Musescore 4"
Probably not as I recall no other reports of this and I can successfully create a 15/16 Time signature that has an actual duration of 15 sixteenths.
"or am I missing something here?"
Probably, but without looking over your shoulder it is impossible to tell what that is.
Here are some pictures of the steps involved.
Step 1 click on the More button in the Time Signature Palette and then click on the Create New Time Signature button
Step 2 Create the new time signature, adjust it beaming properties if necessary and add it to the Time Signature Palette.
Step 3 Find the new time signature in the palette and use it just like any other.
If it doesn't work for you please attach your score (the .mscz file) and describe where the process goes wrong for you.

Hi Steve,
Thanks a lot for your quick reply and support! I could indeed replicate your steps and everything works well.
Must have forgotten to set the correct nominal values when creating the custom time signature in the past. Sorry for any confusion!
Best regards,
Hillen

You are doing the wrong action, you are modifying a single measure length which is intended e.g. for the anacrusis.
You need a custom time signature. Have a look in the time signature palette, press 'More' and then 'Create Time Signature'. It will then be added to the palette and you can use it.

Hi Hilde,
Thanks for your quick reply and suggestion. The screenshot was for demonstrating the way Musescore interpreted the custom time signature that I had created. As mentioned in the comment above, at the time I must have forgotten to set the nominal value correctly. Sorry once again for the confusion.
Best regards,
Hillen

Thanks! That is true.
It was my mistake to choose this nickname - the 'K' represents my first name: Klaus.
But it doesn't matter ...

Sorry about Klaus! I should have used the entire nickname to address you properly.
Thanks once again for your support!
