Score Invalid!
Please help!!!! I was working on a score that I just started, which I hadn't saved yet, and then I clicked to upload it to the cloud (score manager). It said it uploaded, but it doesn't show up in the score manager on the musescore website! And then, when I clicked on the musescore app to open it up again, a little box shows up, saying "Score is Invalid". It won't let me open the score at all!! I haven't done anything which I hadn't done to my other scores with this one, so I have no idea what is going on! And I know the score isn't corrupted, because it would've told me earlier, and it's a pretty simple score. PLEASE HELP I AM AT MY WITS END.

I HAD THIS ISSUE TOO I WAS WORKING ON IT FOR HOURS BUT IT DIDNT LET ME GO BACK IN

please somebody fix this stupid problem I keep opening new scores and not being able to view them again
I’ve had this issue the whole day. I’ve started working on a score yesterday, and then today I lost all my progress. So I restarted all over again and when I finished for the day I was gonna save it but it crashed, when I tried getting back in the score it said, “Your score could not be opened… This score is invalid”
In some cases there is a way to repair a score. But you need to attach the mscz file here ...
i had the same issue and what worked for me was looking in my musescore appdata folder and going to AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore4\cloud_scores where i found my lost score's musescore file. i couldn't open it with the musescore application but i was able to upload it to the musescore site and then redownload it!

Advice for the future: always save your score locally on your PC before you try to save it on the cloud.
You can find the default folder where MuseScore saves locally by following:
Edit > Preferences > Folders > Scores

"I saved mine to the cloud, and I looked in cloud scores, it isn't there!!! "
Please do not rely on just one single copy of any important file. How you manage that is up to you, but this is what I do:
1. Use the default Save location as specified in Edit > Preferences > > General > Folders > Scores
2. Ensure that "Auto save" is enabled: see Edit > Preferences > General > Auto save > Auto save every 3 min
3. Ensure that your computer can see the MuseScore backup folder (it is invisible by default). The folder is called .msbackup
4. At any important point while editing a MuseScore file, do an explicit forced Save with File > Save
5. At the end of a long session or the end of the working day, save a copy to the cloud with File > Save to cloud...
With this system I have never lost any important score, in spite of the occasional destructive crash of the internal or external hard disk on my own computer. The discipline is tough, but it sure does work!

You saved my God damned life. Thanks brother!
I'm glad I'm not the only one. Muse score has been acting weirdly for the past few months; my friend had a similar issue.
Hey there! You need to save on your computer in order to open the file again that you were making on your score. For some reason it won't save it on Musescore itself like you kind have to double save it on the computer itself and musescore.
Im On Mac i saved it to cloud but it just wont open
i cant even find the back up score file or backup score folder in my files...

same problem here, don't know if I'm doing something wrong but it didn't work for me either
TO THOSE ON MAC!!
Open Finder:
Open the Finder application on your Mac.
Go to the Library Folder:
While holding down the "Option" key, click on the "Go" menu in the top menu bar. This will reveal the "Library" option.
Navigate to MuseScore Data:
In the Library folder, look for the "Application Support" folder. Inside it, you might find a folder related to MuseScore or MuseScore4.
Click on the MuseScore folder
Inside of it go to "cloud_scores"
I found my score in it but it was titled "not_uploaded" and when I opened it it was still showing up as invalid. Fortunately, I saved an mp3 file of it and thats it. Hope you can find your lost score as well!

The only way someone can help you is if you attach the corrupt score here. The causes of errors can be very different, so it is not possible to give simple instructions for all cases.

I'm afraid I can't even drag the affected scores to the bin. The unaffected scores (about 50%) would be no problem. I'll try and attach screenshots of the two problem messages.
In reply to I'm afraid I can't even drag… by ChrisHC
Major panic over. Most of the scores I could not open related to somehow my having developed a duplicate log in. The 50 + scores associated with this are now restored and I have saved them to my computer to avoid further cloud problems. However, the lesser problem of cloud scores being deemed invalid continues. I can rewrite the small number involved, but can't delete the ones I can't open. This is a problem many others have flagged. Many potential solutions have been suggested but mostly they have not worked so If anyone has the answer I'm still interested. Thanks.
Maybe I'm lucky, but I've never "lost" a file due to corruption except once in the early MS 4.0 days.
However, I agree fully with the advice provided herein.
For me, #4 is extremely important. I've a lot of data (around 1.2 TB, most of it related to my work which is not music) on my laptop. The MuseScore files are tiny compared to this and I've set up my computer to save my data on independent external drives, OneDrive plus an external secure server. Saving is fully automatic every hour the computer is on as well as at switch off. Still, I press "ctrl S" every minute or so when I work on a project.
When traveling and with no internet connection available, I take one or two of the external drives with me for backup. Connected at home again, everything is automatically synchronised.

I don't understand why all files are not automatically saved on my device in this program. wow. Where did my music go?? what exactly happens when you save to the cloud? I would like to check my computer but I don't even know where the ones that I did save on the computer are. Too much tricky stuff.
Very same thing happened to me. If Musescore has had some shortcuts removed for sure it should be this one so more people don't lose things they spent hours and hours on!!! I was impressed with Mr Keary's videos about this notation software but now wish there was someone to talk to. Brother. I can understand that people are not feeling good about this.
