Changing OOOOOS to piano

• Oct 11, 2023 - 10:04

I really dislike the
one is obliged to have for choir work. I have been trying to change my 4 voices from oooohs to Piano as it is clearer but musescore 4 is just too complicated. Why jettison a perfectly simple manoeuvre to all this complicated nonsense.

You are not obliged to use an oo or an aah. You can choose flute, oboe, ondes martenot or whatever you fancy. Just choose the instrument and rename the stave/part to Tenor, Bass or whatever.

You can easily change the playback sound to piano or any other sound you like, using the Mixer.

Or you can simply choose piano as your instrument in the first place.

Sounds like maybe you skipped the important step of downloading Muse Sounds - that where all the vastly improved sounds for MuseScore 4 are. So, go back to Muse Hub and do that. Then you'll be able to select the piano and other incredibly realistic sounds (and the default choir sound will also be far better), to the point where you might not feel the need to change it in the first place).

You can also download my "split" version of MS Basic that provides all of its old-school sounds separately so you can choose them as well - see https://community.masteringmusescore.com/c/resources/ms-basic-individua…. Or download other free soundfonts or VST instruments to get more options and better quality than was possible in MU3.

And in another couple of months, MuseScore 4.2 will be out, and with it the ability to select sounds within "monolithic" soundfonts like MS Basic, just like MU3.
