Vocal instruments - what happened?
Howdy: When I try to add vocals via the instrument selection process, I'm faced with what you see in the photo. What is an A. Bu? and how do I make just say "Alto" again?

There was a glitch in the translation files for instrument names. Go to Edit / Preferences and update your translations, and all will be well.

For those on a Mac, my path was:
Musescore > Preferences > General > Check for language updates
quit and reopen Musescore.

Well, not quite - on Windows and Linux, the Preferences dialog is found in the Edit menu. On macOS, it is conventional for this dialog and a few other commands to be moved into a separate application menu.
