Notes to appear on beat in stave in voice order
Hi all,
MS 4.2
How do I show notes, in different voices on the same beat, show in voice order
So, in beat one
voice 1 = B, and E chord
voice 2 = A, passing note, to G, in beat 2, with slur
Presently, as the attached file shows, voice 2 shows before voice 1.
I would to show voice 1, then voice 2
How is this achieved?

I'm afraid I cannot see how this helps me.
I want to move the voice order so voice 1 appears on the beat in front of voice 2.
Can someone help, if I have missed the part on the handbook page shown?

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking about.
Try this:
Select the A in voice 2
In the Properties Appearance panel increase the horizontal offset. to get this.
However, the augmentation dots on the E and B make this rather a difficult case. If the measure is not so widely spaced it looks like this
Which I personally think is more confusing (are there 5 beats in that measure?) than Musescore's first attempt like this

Hi Steve, thanks for this.
There are 3 beats per bar, and two voices. I have now Incidentally also changed the voice for the lower D, in the 3rd beat, from voice 1 to voice 2, with the stem pointing upwards. In the piano part this saves me adding that rest to voice 2 and then having to make it invisible.
I used the offset function that you have outlined above, and achieved the result in your screenshot, thank you.
Does MS has the function to reverse the note-heads, do you know, in this case for the A and the G (flip each note-head from right to left), it would be a winner. I could then adjust the stems to align equally.

I only changed the stem direction of the two voices 2 notes.

That looks like there are 4 beats in the measure.
The default is correct here according to fairly commonly-used rules of engraving that deal with mixed dotted-undotted situations. The goal is to avoid unnecessary space while also avoiding creating a situation where the dot in one voice can be mistaken for a staccato dot in the other.
You can certainly play with offsets to try to find another solution, but you won't find one that better solves those two goals - you'll have to sacrifice one or the other.
