MuseScore 4.2.1 keeps crashing when trying to add notes to a specific part

• Mar 12, 2024 - 17:32

Hello,

Apologies if this is a repeat of an issue; I searched on forums for recent posts and can't find anything similar. I was working on this arrangement for a piece and for some odd reason, when adding notes to the bassoon parts (1 or 2), the software crashes. I have the log files if anyone's interested although there's nothing to suggest an error. It just submits a call to execute the function requested (either add note or paste) and nothing happens from there and then it crashes. I have tried running the software as admin, restarting PC, and closing all active programs to try to see if it's a software conflict. Nothing has worked. I even tried deleting the bass clarinet part or the bassoon 1 part (the last successfully added parts) and doing that also causes a crash. I'm kind of at a loss on this one. If someone could try out adding notes (it's just doubling parts) on the empty stave (Bassoon 2) in question or offer me any advice, that would help me immensely! Thanks.

Where exactly (which measures) are you trying to add notes to the Bassoon staff (or part)? I can't reproduce the crash. Nor does deleting the Clarinet or other instruments (Windows10, version 4.2.1)
Just for precision: the attached score has not parts. I created them. So, are you trying to add notes eg to the Bassoon STAFF (main score) or in the specific Bassoon PART?

In the staff from the main score. It's measures 67-70 (the 4 measures before rehearsal 79). I think it was something with that particular section on that particular save (measures 67-70), because the crash would also happen when deleting from different instruments as well (violin 2 for example). Creating a new save file saved via the cloud seems to have solved the issue for now. It seems to be specific to the way that file is saved onto my PC if it's not giving you any issues.
