weird playback issues such as high pitch ringing
Since yesterday I've been experiencing MIDI playback issues - mostly a high pitched ringing sound (but also might have tempo-slowing issues). I've reverted to factory settings. Muse Sounds is greyed out in Playback Setup. All my musescore files that two days ago sounded fine now all have that irritating high-pitched ringing. Same audio problem happens with sample files uploaded on this forum such as stone2test_0.

There are weird tempo things happening too: Not sure, it's like it's swinging the eighth notes? What is wrong. Playback is unbearable.

What is new since yesterday?
Have your audio drivers updated themselves?
Any thing else updated?
Are you running another programme now that wasn't running yesterday?
Have you tried restarting Musescore?
Have you tried reverting Musescore to its factory settings? (From the Help menu).
Have you tried restarting your PC? (turning it off and on again really works sometimes!)
Okay. I seem to have isolated the problem. It depends on which speakers my system is playing through. 1) Laptop speakers is fine. 2) External monitor speakers is fine. 3) Bluetooth speaker set one is fine (Bose S1 Pro Plus). 4) Bluetooth speaker set two is problematic (Bose Soundlink revolve plus). 5) Bluetooth number three (Bose Quietcomfort) is fine.
Why is one of my Bluetooth speakers giving problems?
But my lack of Muse Sounds is still annoying.

Could be an audio settings mismatch. See https://musescore.org/en/node/361910 for a more detailed discussion (which I don't really understand the technicalities of - I only use wired headphones.)

Wired headphones...here here!
But in general, don't change audio output with MuseScore running. And make sure whatever you change it to is selected in Preferences>I/O.
As for Muse Sounds, in the main menu, try Diagnostics>Muse sampler>Check Muse Sampler.
