It is easier and better to right click on the stave and in stave/part properties change the instrument. Musescore will take care of the transposition. And it also knows the playable range of notes on that instrument and will warn you if notes are unplayable on the new instrument by colouring the notes. And you get the correct long and short instrument names in the score. And it is just the Right Way to do what you wanted (but didn't tell us at first).

I figured it out to be able to transpose the solo instrument part and save it to the original score.

You shouldn't have had to transpose anything. Write in Concert Pitch. Then turn off Concert pitch.

I wasn't writing, but wanting to play a different instrument on the solo part.
