Sure? It is an (octave) transposing instrument, so indeed is ment to play one ovtave lower than written

The bass clef must be played as written.
The F key corresponds to F2 on the piano.
If I use the MSBASIC sound the reproduction is correct.
If I use a vst3 plugin like ezbass or kontakt, playback occurs one octave lower.

No, it plays an octave lower in MS Basic too
Unless in those VTS3s it play 2 octaves lower...

Checl the instrument porperties and see it being transposed down an octave
And/or toggle the concet pitch button and see that it really is a F-clef ottava bassa

1.From the "instruments" tab, bass instrument can only be replaced, not transposed.
2.With "concert pitch" check box selected, a C written on the second space form below of the bass staff plays as C1 via vst3.
In the NOTE i can read:
"Pitch:C2:Duration....(Acoustic Bass)
3.With "concert pitch" check box unselected,a C written on the second space form below of the bass staff plays as C1 via vst3.
In the NOTE i can read:
"Pitch:C3 (sounding as C2):Duration....(Acoustic Bass)

Instrument properties, via right-click into the staff
and 3. do prove that MuseScore treasts it as transposing, and that your VST3 adds another octave, so you'd need to outsmart it, like by using an invisible ottava alta or by chaning the instrument to not transpose down an octave

Thanks for your suggestion,i will do.
The vst3 playback is correct. Bass is an instrument that plays one octave lower than the written pitch. This is due to the history of the instrument itself. The Double Bass/Contrabass originally performed as an octave double of the cello part. Both the Cello and Bass parts were the same but the bass sounds one octave lower.

Bass use the F key for writing music. The F key correspond mostly to the left hand in piano notation.
Music written in F key correspond to a specific piano register and must non be transposed.

But that does not apply to Contrabass music because the instrument is a transposing instrument.

With this argument, all trumpets should play the note C when they see a C in the music. That's not how it works with transposing instruments.

MuseScore knows that too, so now you end up 2 octaves lower.
IMHO it is not the VTS3s business to take care of that, it should just play what being told to play

Yes,now I agree with you.
In a 4 string bass, C low note has a frequency of 65,41 Hz.
This corresponds to the piano C2 key.
Now the problem moves to the vst3 plugins, both EZbass and Kontakt because they don't map bass sound as low as the notation.
I avoid using "8va" for the playback but not when site reading.
Thanks for your support, have a nice day.
