text, 1/2 symbol
I'm trying to put text in the brass that says 1/2 plunger, but I would like to get the 1/2 to be the smaller version but can't find out how to input it. I've looked through the symbols but didn't find it. thanks

I googled "unicode half" (but on my Swedish keyboard it also exists at the top left as shift-§)

Thanks Yes, I can cut/paste but I'm hoping to find an insert symbol feature for any other future possibility
.
Put the text into Edit mode, then in the Properties tab press the "Insert special character" button and find the ½ symbols and some others near the bottom of the "Common symbols" tab and click on it

"in the Properties feature I have 4 tabs: Change Channel, MIDI Action, Swing Settings, Capo Settings."
So you are running the V3 (not V4). And it's not exactly in Properties feature (hence the confusion with V4, and the Properties panel), but in "Staff text Properties"

Yes, I have an old Macbook Air and my OS is maxed out and not sufficient for version 4.0, so stuck on 3.6.
I tried F2 while in 'edit' mode but that only brightened my screen. Is there a way to input text using ASCII or other coding method?

Instead F2, click the "Alpha" icon, in the text toolbar, at the bottom of the screen, see : https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/text-editing#symbols-and-special-ch…
