No sound in kubuntu 24.04
I had an installation of kubuntu 23.10 where musescore 4.3 worked. Now that I made a fresh install of kubuntu 24.04 at the same machine without changing any hardware musescore 4.3 has no sound anymore. When I type otes they don't make sound. When I play the score the cursor doesn't move. I deleted all config files of all folders nut nothing works. I can't choose audio device in MU 4.3 because the only option that appears in preferences is system default.

Same here. Worked fine in Kubuntu 22.04. Upgraded to 24.04 on three different PCs. Two of them had no problems, but my main machine annoyingly doesn’t produce any sounds in MuseScore 4.4.2 (AppImage) any more.
When attempting to playback scores, the cursor doesn’t move.
In Preferences, the audio device shows ‘system default,’ but the two dropdown menus below (buffer size & sample rate) are blank and though they offer the usual options when clicked on, they always remain blank regardless of which value is selected.

SOLVED
Just found several other threads reporting similar problems.
Installing the pipewire-alsa package fixed the issue for me:
> sudo apt install pipewire-alsa
