Importing a Midi File
I wrote a number of jazz guitar pieces in swing eighths years ago, notating them in TUX Guitar. I don't like the look of the TUX output and would like to redo them in Musescore. I exported them from TUX as a midi file and then imported them into Musescore. Instead of swing eighths, though, I get a quarter note and an eighth note with a triplet bracket. I went back and forth with Microsoft Copilot for an hour trying to fix the problem. I won't repeat all of that here. Basically, though, if I delete the triplet bracket, I simultaneously delete the notes. Is there any way to convert these pieces into swing eighths, thus removing the triplet brackets, without retyping the entire piece?

Tux Guitar allows exporting via MusicXML - you might try that to see if the results will import into MuseScore as swing eighths. If not, you could use https://musescore.org/en/project/duration-editor, but that works only in the 3.x branches, and you'd have to be careful by performing per tuplet

That was a good idea, and one I hadn't thought of. I did export an XML file from TUX, but when I tried to open it in Musescore, I got a message that said it was not a valid file format. It asked whether I wanted to open it anyway, and I said yes. The first few notes were missing, but there was a circled number above each note that appeared to indicate which string it was to be played on. I don't see any way to get rid of those circled numbers.

That was extremely helpful. Thank you! I think I can make this work now. You've saved me at least a week's worth of typing eight hours a day.
