Musescore does not work on Ubuntu 24.04 and audio Adapter Behringer UMC204HD
Musecsore3 does not work on Kubuntu 24.04 with my audio Adapter Behringer UMC204HD.
If I boot machine with Ubuntu studio 24.04.1 with a livecd, It does work fine. By this I known this combination could work.
I use the same Musescore3 version (version 3.2.3) as available on Ubuntu studio 24.04.1. Because I use KDE Plasma 5.27.11
I installed musescore3 with Discover.
On my laptop with Kubuntu 24.04 I was able to start qjackctl.
I already checked all installed apt jack and pipewrire packages, but I could not find any differences.
Is there someone who has a suggestion to solve this problem?

I posted this problem because on my machine Musecore4 does still not work fine.
3.2.3 is very outdated, last 3.x is 3.6.2 (and my 3.7 Evolution), current version is 4.4.4
Reporting any issue on any but the latest version won't help in gettign them fixed...

That is a pitty. As I said, although I want to use Musescore4 on my Laptop with Linux it still does not work with my audio adapter. Although (because of liveCD with Ubuntu studio 24.04.1) I know it works on my hardware with my audio adapter, it does not work on my current laptop with ubuntu 24.04 with all actual software packages installed.

I have tried Musescore 3.6.2 with no resulted. That is the reason I tried Ubuntu 24.04.1 with Musescore3.2.3 to check I could work on my hardware. I could i get Musecore 3.7. Musecore 3.6.2 is the highest version for my available?

3.6.2 and 3.7 both should support Jack

Mu4 indeed doesn't support Jack

But on Ubuntu 24.04 I do not actually use jack, because since Ubuntu 24.04 pipewire is default and jack is only emulated when needed. What is your policy on pipewire support on Linux for MuseScore4?

Could you please confirm, MuseScore4 is supported with midi on Ubuntu 24.04?

I did not try it myself (22.04 supported until 04/2027), but it has been reported to work on 24.04 after installing pipewire-alsa "This package contains a plugin for ALSA applications to output via PipeWire."
I would not use that very old version from the repository. Appimages work perfectly.

Thank you for your reply. But does pipewire-alsa support on Ubuntu 24.04 for using midi with my audio interface and MuseScore version4? (see also https://musescore.org/en/node/3729240)

No idea.
Does it hurt to try?

But I am already trying. The problem is it does not work on my machine. Because I know (via the mentioned LiveCD with Ubuntu studio 24.04.1 I now it can work on my machine). I created this post, to get some ideas, how to fix my current installation on my machine.
