Dynamics in Musescore 4
I’ve been composing with Musescore 3. Every time that I’ve tried to move to Musescore 4, I find the dynamics look inconsistent. For instance, for an SATB score, S sounds the strongest and B the weakest by orders of magnitude for common dynamics. As an example, in the mixer, I had to select the largest intensity (12) for the bass, about 3 to 6 for tenor and alto, and -3 for the soprano. Some progression, such as from mf to f, results in a sudden yelling voice. I’m used to Musescore 3, in that such progression is smooth; I mean, there’re similar steps in dynamics from p to mp, that from mp to mf, or from mf to f, and so on. How can I avoid this?

This has not been my experience to the same extent. Soprano can be over loud above C5 or so. Please post a score that has these problems.

Dear bobjp,
Thank you very much for your answer.
I attach a file with some numbered examples.
1. The bass sounds much weaker than the soprano, both at mf.
2. The bass from mf to f: it's a huge jump. In Musescore 3 the jump is more moderate.
3 and 4. Bass at mp and tenor at p: the tenor sounds louder.
5. Alto at mp and soprano at p: the soprano sounds louder.
6 and 7. After the last note of each range: an echo can be heard.
Thanks for your help

All the dynamics sound right to me, including balance between the parts. The difference between mp and p is less than I would have made it but it's consistent throughout. *shrug*

Thanks a lot.
I've uploaded my file in musescore.com and played it there and...you're right! It sounds good there. I wonder why it sounds so wrong in the Musescore 4 I have in my computer. I had the latest version installed. It has always sound wrong, every single piece. I must have some wrong parameter, selection, installation...
Thanks again

I found what's happening: when I changed from Muse sounds to MuseScore Basic in Playback setup, the problem got solved.
However, I wanted to move from Musescore 3 to 4 to use Muse sounds!
Do you get correct voice sounds with Muse sounds?
Thanks once more.

I don't have the Muse Voice sounds installed. (I had the Guitars installed, but something happened to it when I upgraded to 4.4.4 *shrug*)
Can someone else test this with the Muse Voice sounds???
