Really long first ending
I have a first ending that is 10 measures long. I can't drag the ending back that far because it crosses pages and systems of music. Is there a way around that, or do I need to make it a coda of some kind?

Select the 10 measures and simply select the 1st volta from the “Repeats” palette.
Or switch on the “horizontal continuous view” to continue with your method.

Or move the end point with Shift + Arrow key. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/adjusting-elements-directly#change-…
Dragging is usually the worst option for moving things in Musescore.
