How to insert a note between notes?

Comments

What do you mean? Add a note after the first note and move all the other notes to the right?, add a grace note?, add a note of a different duration that plays along with another note(s)?, Add a note in the middle of a chord?

Sure not. That'd be asking for way more trouble that it'd be worth. Think about notes that now all of a sudden would span across a barline: they probably should get tied across. But what it you delete that inserted note again, shopuld the tie stay or should those notes get combined to one again? How to differenatialy that case from those where you wanted a tie?
Music just isn't like text, where you can insert a letter, syllable or word.

Please explain how moving all the notes to the right could possibly be right. Take the first line of "Mary had a Little Lamb". After the fifth note, C+P the rest of them one note to the right. Put some random note after the 5th note. Now everything is off.

Yes, you would. But your (@toby34's) use case is much less common than the other, in which it would cause huge problems. It's easy enough to correct: Ctrl+X (Cut), add the missing note, Ctrl+V (Paste).

If you think that is difficult, imagine you had to return to doing it on paper. Think about how hard THAT is to insert a note.
