Pedal markings on repeats

• Mar 20, 2025 - 02:58

I've been using the app for about a week now and whenever I have a repeat in a piano score passage with pedal markings ("Ped.___*") it plays normally the first time through, but when it goes back and plays the second time the pedal doesn't stop when indicated. It plays with the pedal on from that point until it reaches another pedal marking later on. I've had to go through and remove all the pedal indicators because of this and just hope I get all of them back in the right places once I'm finished.

Please attach a score file (the .MSCZ file) that demonstrates the issue. If you don't know How To attach a file, click the link.

In addition, please identify the operating system and version your computer is running. Also, the version of MuseScore Studio you have installed (Help / About MuseScore).

I'm copying out the third movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. When it plays through the first section everything sounds like it should, but when it repeats the first part, the pedals don't cancel out after the "" marking. It keeps playing with the pedal open. It only starts doing that after the repeat, but then it does it from then on. Sometimes it will stay engaged until it gets to the next pedal mark and then it cancels out, most of the time it just remains open. In what I've got copied so far here, the pedal is marked to engage at the end of measure 71 and cancels at the start of measure 72, but it stays engaged all the way to the end. Why does it not cancel out after the "" symbol?

I'm on a PC with Windows 11. I have MusicScore version 4.4.4.243461245, revision 2232670.
