Zoom level is out of my control

• Mar 25, 2025 - 23:22

In the MuseScore app, I unfortunately have this problem where the zoom level changes out of my control instead of staying fixed like it’s supposed to. So can you please do anything about my situation? Please respond at your earliest convenience.

Please identify your computer's operating system and version, and MuseScore's version. You can get all three simultaneously by clicking on Help / About MuseScore from the main menu. Then click the copy button (two pieces of paper) next to the "Build" number. Paste that into your post.

Then describe in GREAT and EXCRUCIATING detail exactly what actions cause the zoom level to change. It's possible to include too much detail but you'd really have to work at it. It's very easy to include too little ... so include more :-)

Before MuseScore 4.5 there was a bug where opening a score with the Navigator open would often times display the main score and/or the parts zoomed in. Is this what's happening to you or not?

If the zoom level feels unresponsive or is changing unexpectedly, try resetting it to 100% using keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+0 on Windows, Command+0 on Mac) or browser menu options. Pressing Ctrl + 0 or Command + 0 will reset the zoom level on the current page but may not change the browser's default zoom setting. I'm occasionally having scores open zoomed in to 400%. However, the zoom level shows "0%". As soon as I zoom out, the zoom level changes to a more correct value: "200%" and then smaller.

This occurs without the Navigator open, as I almost never use the Navigator.

This happens in 4.4.4, but it has only happened in the past few weeks ... oddly, since 4.5 was released, even though I don't have 4.5 installed. I have not found how to replicate it reliably but it seems to happen about 10% of the times I open a score.
