Uploading scores from MS3.7 on Windows 11 - cannot log in
I'm having trouble uploading scores from MS3.7 on a new Windows 11 computer because the desktop program is not letting me log in. I know that the login credentials are correct because I've logged into the .com website via my web browser.
This is the message that I get:
Musescore version : 3.7.0.14124434436-x86_64
Any suggestions?

I know :-(
Some day it broke, no idea why
But feel free to log it at https://github.com/Jojo-Schmitz/MuseScore/issues/new/choose
And with 3.6.2's empty upload dialog (see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/27386) we're between a rock and a hard place

Bummer! It's how I upload custom audio.
It stills works from my Windows 11 laptop, including from a local build, (which allows me to inject an .mp3 in place of the generated custom audio), although I do get the empty dialogue after uploads.

Then, really quick, grab cred.dat and store it to a save place. And copy it to the new PC.

It'll have to be tomorrow. Which folder does cred.dat live in? Will it still work if I changed my password, (which I did to confirm that I wasn't mis-typing it on the new comouter).

See that issue, lists the location of that file.
I don't think it works with a changed password, but first try, if it doesn't change back to the old password and try again

Double bummer! As you say in the link, it's an upload maintenance nightmare.

It just got worse, now I'm getting
but regradless a upload seems to take place. But it a) fails
and b) is Public by default!

Updating an existing score now seems to work with 3.7, showing the dialog in a browser (Edge in my case), just like it did before it broke. Provided you have a valid cred.dat, that is, i.t. could update with 3.6.2 (and it's blank dialog).
Uploading new scores fails as per the above, for 3.6.2 and 3.7

Well, something has definitely changed as my laptop is now asking for credentials, even in my self build. It wasn't doing this on 8 Mar 2025 because I can see a score that I uploaded then with an 'injected' mp3 and this can only be done from MS3.7 Custom Build.
I guess there's no point trying the laptop cred.dat on the tower PC?
If MS4 supports SF2 format then maybe I could use it as an uploader. Would that work? (I don't want to touch MuseHub with a very long barge pole.)

The attempted upload from the laptop ends up deleting cred.dat. (I have a backup just in case things start working again). This is my self build which was working so presumably this delete is being triggered by some sort of return code from .com as I haven't made any changes to my build for several weeks.

FWIW MS4 supports sf2 and sf3.

Thanks.
Can it upload custom audio along with the score to .com?
Does it support VST3 without needing MuseHub?

Yes, it should support uploading custom audio.
No idea abput VST3, but IIRC that isn't related to MuseHub.
But uploading a Mu3 score with Mu4 will change the layout!

This might be my only option.
Hopefully TAB does not change layout much.
Could we copy the code for the login process from MS4 to MS3.7?
In reply to This might be my only option… by yonah_ag
Not sure, might have evolved to far away from the 3.x code

3.6.2 still shows the empty dialog, so no change there.
It does this even on a new score, and as being private, so that problem seems fixed.

The change came after 8 March 2025.
Up until that point MS3.7 logged in automatically, (cred.dat), and uploaded scores+audio with an empty finishing dialogue. Today, on laptop with unchanged MS3.7 custom build and tower with newest MS3.7 (and 3.6.2), installation I get prompted for login details.
Both computers have the same cred.dat from the laptop, which worked on 8th March.

Works for me, but that is a self-built 3.7, using QtCreator/MinGW, would need to test the GitHub artifacts

My self-built was with MSVS 2022 and this used to work but no longer.
Could the MS4 working code be patched into MS3.7?

Oops! Sorry, missed that reply.
I'll give MS4 a try. If it works well without MuseHub then it could be viable just for uploads. It depends on layout changes and whether MS4 retains the changes made by my plugins, particularly note length and ontime as seen in PRE.
In reply to Oops! Sorry, missed that… by yonah_ag
I believe those note lenght and ontime settings are going lost in the transit

🙁
That would be a major step backwards. It wouldn't be worth uploading any new scores as it's too much effort putting in hidden tied notes to emulate guitar sustain. I'll do a test but it doesn't sound hopeful.

Another bummer. One last option remains: add an option to TAB Ring to apply the calculated sustain as hidden tied notes. Is it possible to add tied notes (and hide them) via a plugin with 3.7?

So MS3 has basically been crippled for uploads whilst
MS4 has been crippled by losing essential functionality.
I'm caught between a rock and a hard place!
It could be time to use a different scoring program and close my MS account; or maybe remove my scores, close my account and just keep MS3.7 for private use.

One more option: make a MS4 repo on GitHub and see if I can apply my MS3 'mp3 injection' code into MS4. This way I can generate audio with MS3 and PianoTeq and 'inject' into MS4 uploads.

I've found another way: link to YouTube audio.

MS4.4 (and later) also strips:
• Note velocity, which is essential to me (MS4.4 discards all legacy velocity values and sets them to v80)
• Mixer pan settings and substitutes a MuseSounds instrument based on the Part?Properties>Instrument
• Mixer>Sound setting
• Regarding note length (LEN?), currently MS4 ignores it, but does note alter it. But then, initially that's what MS4 did with velocity. Now it needlessly wipes out those values
• ... somewhere I have a longer list of discarded properties. Will post when i locate it.
Regarding layout:
I'm seeing dotted notes taking up less horizontal space, which looks quite bad to my eye. And it can affect "soft system wraps." Haven't yet investigated workarounds. Adding system breaks can fix overall layout but it does not improve the dotted note spacing.

Try to find a good backup of cred.dat and restore that, see the issue I mentioned above
If you have none: very bad luck, you're locked out permanently, with Mu3
