Can the Space Bar default be over ruled?
I have a special font for the Chemnitzer Concertina tablature. The chord numbers are entered as lyrics below the staff. The way it should work is to get an A major chord, press the A key and then the space bar. The space bar triggers the dead character that the chord and it advances to the next beat. I works great in Finale, but they are such quitters.
When I enter an A major chord in MuseScore, I have to hit the A key twice to get the chord symbol. But I get two chords and have to backspace to delete one, and hit the space bar to advance to the next note.
From what I understand, Musescore uses the space bar to make a space, but also to stop and start midi playback.
Is there a way to change that so that the midi playback can be turned off, hopefully eliminating the conflict with my font/chord entry? Is there someone I could hire to make the change?
We are trying to make more music available for the Chemnitzer Concertina, which hasn't had much newly engraved music since the 1960s. We thought we solved the problem with Finale. I'm hoping MuseScore can be modified so our handful of arrangers can continue their volunteer efforts.
Thanks.

Definitely not understanding the issue, but why not use a chord symbol (Ctrl+K) rather than lyrics? I don't know whether that would resolve the issue or not, but usually a good idea to use things the way they are intended (until youcan't :-)

It won’t matter. I would still need the space bar to trigger the dead key. I’m using Kbdedit to reconfigure the keyboard so that the letter a (lower case) will become an A major chord fingering. The keyboard program needs the space bar to be pressed after the A to trigger the chord. Is the space bar is already assigned to something else, like stop playing, then the chord trigger will be blocked. Just need a way to turn off other spacebar features.
Hope this makes better
sense.

In preferences>shortcuts you can see that the space bar is set to play. I guess you can edit that so it doesn't play.
Chord symbols can placed below the staff. But there may be more to it than where they get placed.
Looking at the website, it seems there a few different styles of notation. As well as fingering. Good luck
