Single Line - to Create Rhythym Only

• Apr 29, 2025 - 22:38

Help. Who can give me step by step guidance on how to create a SINGLE LINE so that I can write rhythym only. I think I have tried everything but obviously not since I cannot seem to get the single line created. Thanks! Sharon

Thank you Scorster for sending this tutorial. It seems that when I am typing the page 'defaults' often, to something I do not want. The good news is that I was able to see that I have to be on the last note to add a double line ( part of my assignment). I will keep practicing with this and hope it gets easier. I may return with more questions after my next class. Thanks for your reply! Helpful people in the universe. How fun. Have a great day.

Create a new score, don't use a template, but select the instruments you want on your score. There select "Claves" or "Bongos". And you a one-line score.

ParkingB - my hero. Claves worked. Appreciate you more than I can say. I have spent HOURS on this so far. Next question if you have a minute. I need to create 10 motifs with various rhythyms. I added a couple of notes and MuseScore does not seem to let me edit too much. How to add various notes??? I usually can figure this stuff out... Oh Dear. thank you! Sharon

Thank you parking b. The Hutch tutorial was helpful. When I use Muse Score it seems that it does not respond to my key hitting. I try to add a note to a staff or line and it adds chord notes, or rests or ... A mind of its own. And, it seems to not let me go back and edit. Last night I wa able to create a new page. I missed adding Title and then I could not get back to the title section. The tutorial shows it is easy to use. This is not my experience. The good news - I started another page. I was able to add a title, composer name and per my Music Theory teachers instruction - created 10 rhythm motifs. They are not great but the assignment is done for now. Thanks for being a helpful person out in the world! The Hutch was a great tutorial. Thanks for your kind and helpful replies. Have a great day!

I recommend that every new (or "new-ish" :-) user take an hour or two and simply read the entire Handbook (https://handbook.musescore.org/). Don't try to memorize it! Just skim through it and familiarize yourself with the contents! But read it all!!! Then you'll have an idea where to find things when issues come up in the future. "Didn't I see something about that in the Handbook?"

Welcome aboard and best of luck!!!
