Delay before playing
I use MuseScore for practising vioin by creating scores from my methods book. I then play along with the score. Is there a way to have a delay or count down before it starts playing? Need time to get the violin back on my shoulder!
What I've done is added woodblocks to function as a metromone, and add a beginning measure that is only woodblocks. That works, but I was wondering is there was a better way.

Thanks - I'll give it a try
I also play violin and tried woodblocks way, or adding some bars, too much work for so many scores.
I wrote a script to use nircmd, very effective with long time delay before play starts.

Nice workaround, but in the years since this thread was started, MuseScore added a count-in option directly. Just open View / Play Panel and click the count-in icon (picture of a hand with a baton, I think).

It is a nircmd.exe script file, it cheats musescore by behaving like human operating hot keys to start playing, it aims at adding some extra seconds before the count in starts, therefore let the real human can get instrument in hands ready.
It not built in musescore, so it not 100% reliable, it works though, it voices: ready … …set, go, then it starts the count in.
I tried the other way: add some bars at the beginning of the score, then I had to deal with tempo, repeat loop, hiding… and if not satisfied, I had to deal with them one by one again, too many scores… I gave up.
