Multiple voices overlap with half notes
I have two voices that overlap and one is a half note. How can be prevent the note head from being filled in? I'm attaching an image of what I'm looking for.

Select the 16th note and press V. If you have difficulty, the easiest way to select the 16th note is to select the next note and press the left arrow.

Yes it will print properly. Invisible items are shown grayed out unless you go to the View menu and remove the check from Show Invisible.

A second possibility is to change the notehead types to match up (make the 16th show itself as a half note)

The important thing to remember is that you have to make sure to alter the shortest of the overlapping notes.
