Not sure wich OS you're using, with OpenSuse the correct import of lyrics works as expected by default, see attached files.
Or maybe isn't something correct notated in your source file?
Is your abc text encoded in Unicode?
(and besides, ä and ö are German letters ;-))

I experimented with Music XML songs imported with Easy ABC and it functioned there.
You can see it there in picture of the program. I copied the text and used it in Musescore AbC import.
That is my reason to think it was unicode text.

Excuse me. I mean that in the program Easy ABC you can see both ABC text and music notes at the same time. I then took the ABC text and copied it to ABC import to learn it.
