Is there a shortcut for entering running parallel thirds (a la G. F. Handel), other than hand entering each note?

Alt+3 in the note input mode, or could you explain it on an example?
As far as I know MS does not have a facility whereby the input of a particular note will automatically add another, related note.
As mentioned, Alt+# enters a third above the selected note or notes. Easiest way to use this for an extended passage is to enter the bottom notes first, then leave note input mode, select the passage, and press Alt+3 to enter the thirds above all at once.

I still don't understand the logic of the added note being above the original note rather than below. This is the same logic when adding a note to make or extend chords, where the notes are added above.
When I write I generally write the melody note first, then add the support notes. The melody being on top, it seems far more effective to have the added notes lower.

You can add the note lower too. See Notes > add interval in the menu and change the shortcuts if needed.

That's very good.
The actual case which I use is to select the existent note and add the interval via shift + note name. This does not solve that exactly but has I can see its use.
