No Idea if this helps to analyze, when I used to work with with Unix5.2 20 Years ago,
things like that happened when the output was assigned
a no existing device...)
thx... does anyone have other helpful ideas...
Same problem here. Always could use my b/t h/s but now it won't play.
I am running MacOS El Capitan (10.11.6) on a 15" MBP and I have installed Muse 2.1 (871C8CE)
Configuring I/O devices via Preferences and selecting Built-In Output works as expected.
The I/O dropdown shows 2 entries for my Bose b/t headphones. If I select either of them and restart Muse, playing a file results in no sound. I've tried removing all MuseScore files on the system and reinstalling but to no avail. Resetting to factory settings has no effect.
However, if I run MuseScore-2.0.3.1 (6347ED6), either installed or from a mounted .dmg, the sound works as expected over bluetooth.
Same problem. 2016 Macbook Pro, OS 10.12.5, MuseScore 2.1. Just got bluetooth headphones. They work with iTunes and other apps, but no sound from MuseScore. Have gone into prepferences: I/O and made sure that the bluetooth headphones are selected, but no sound. When I launch MuseScore I can hear a tiny "click" sound in my headset as it's loading, like it's making a connection or something--but playback is silent. Have restarted computer, MuseScore, etc. Have also reset the MuseScore prefs via the button in the prefferences window.
I'm really excited about my new headphones but really frustrated about not being able to use Musescore with them. I just spent the last hour researching, troubleshooting, etc. with no luck. PLEASE HELP!

no sound via bluetooth on my macbook pro running on version 10.12.6
Critical is reserved for crashes and corruption
Closing #220326: Bluetooth Headphones as a duplicate of this here, and the issue came up again in https://musescore.org/en/node/254041
Until the bug is unsolved i recommend to downgrade to version 2.0.2
No reason to destroy the issue title, also better go to 2.0.3.1, further up this has been reported to not have this issue.

No sound with Alexa, my mac's headphone/speaker socket is broken for years now and it's too expensive to fix, can't hear the bass notes well at all through internal speaker =-(
Where can I download version 2.0.3.1?
Starting from the big Download > Software link at the top of this page:
Click on "older versions": https://musescore.org/en/download#older-versions

Initially MuseScore wasn't recognizing my new Koss BT539i bluetooth headphones but after a couple of restarts they finally came up in the output list (for some reason they show up twice in that list). Finally got them working and they worked well for a while, then not only did I stop getting sound through the headphones, the program itself stopped working wrt playback and note input sound. As soon as I turned off my bluetooth headphones the playback started up automatically, like it was waiting for the headphones to be switched off.
came up again: https://musescore.org/en/node/268839
I have just recently purchased some bluetooth headphones and paired them to my Mac. All other sound seems to come in, except for the Musescore playback. I want to system preferences and fiddle around with it, but there doesn't seem to be any issue with he headphones or the Mac. Plugging in other headphones seems to cause no issue.
Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?
See above, downgrade to MuseScore 2.0.3.1
finally solved see: https://musescore.org/en/comment/818458#comment-818458
I have to change the output in settings and restart MuseScore, but the sound quality seems reduced.
MuseScore 2.2.0 (64-bit) 4526ec6 - OS X 10.11.6, Arch.: x86_64
I just built the development version and it, like 2.2 and 2.1 before it cannot output to B/T. What I hadn't noticed before is that, if there is an Airplay device in the neighbourhood, there will also be an Airplay option in the Preferences output device list.
Selecting Airplay produces the same results at selecting a Bluetooth device, viz: 2.0.3.1 works dandy, 2.1 and later nada nada nada.
Seems to imply a sort of class-driver/library problem with non-"standard" audio devices - anything but the default audio output doesn't work.
Running mscore manually with the -e option ice the following output:
"2018-02-16 13:45:20.665 mscore[30766:1896246] 13:45:20.665 WARNING: 140: This application, or a library it uses, is using the deprecated Carbon Component Manager for hosting Audio Units. Support for this will be removed in a future release. Also, this makes the host incompatible with version 3 audio units. Please transition to the API's in AudioComponent.h."
Note, this message is generated by 2.0.3.1 and well as all versions after it, even though 2.0.3.1 works as expected. Perhaps whatever support is implied went after 2.0.3.1.
Mean anything to anybody?
See https://musescore.org/en/node/234811 discussion. Should be fixed in cae320e (master) and 596f6c2 (2.2).
