Can't Add Cowbell to Battery Snare Part
It's exactly what it says in the title, I'm afraid. I have tried adding the cowbell part to the drumset with the proper MIDI number and all that but it doesn't make a sound. Help!
Thanks in advance

In order to understand what is going on, we would need you to attach the score you are having trouble with and give precise instructions on how to reproduce the problem. In theory, it should be perfectly possible to edit the drumset for the snare staff to add a cowbell to the definition, and then to add the note itself. have you already edited the drumset definition? Which pitch number did you use for the cowbell?

Here is the score. The specific steps I took were:
1. select the snare part
2. right click and click edit drumset
3. find 56 (g#2) in the list on the left
4. rename it cowbell and change the notehead to triangle
5. It appears when I press "N", but it makes no sound.
Thanks for your help!

There is no cowbell sound of the selected presets. //eg:MarchingSnare or Marching Tenor.
Use any of the regular drum kits. //example: Standard, Jazz, Room

The problem then is that I can't get the marching snare sound. (right?) If so, is their a workaround?

For now, you can use a separate staff-line. (See attachment.)

Just edit the standard soundfont and swap studio snare for marching snare.

Insert another instrument as Cowbell from the instruments dialog. If you use parts, you can extract both to the same part. After the part is done, in the Mixer uncheck drumset for the cowbell and select the cowbell sound from the list. I do this with most individual instruments unless I'm writing for a complete drum set.

Ok, was really hoping I wouldn't have to do that but I guess it's the only way. Thanks for the help!

You can edit a percussion soundfont in polyphone.
You should be able to swap marching snare for studio snare.
