Out of tune Choir AAhs
Hi!
Almost all pitches of choir aahs sound in the default soundfont (Fluid R3 mono / Musescore General) is out of tune. I've attached a demonstration.

It even has a females only and males only sound. You just download the file, unzip it with 7zip, drop it into the Musescore window, go into the synthesizer and remove Musescore general, press add and select ASO, and set as default.

That soundfont is from a MuseScore user, Ziya Mete Demircan. Unfortunatly with a license (Free for personal use. You DO NOT have permission to "sell, or repackage and sell" this soundfont in part or in whole.) that doesn't make it possible to include it or parts from it with the MuseScore package.

Kind of unfortunate but at least people can still use it. I believe SGM has a free licensing and could be used to improve Musescore general.

I agree. The purpose is to make the general soundfont better. Installing another one should be only an option/workaround, the software should work well after a clean install.

The SGM homepage http://www.geocities.jp/shansoundfont/ does not include any licence at all.
Seems you're indeed right, my guitar tuner confirms that D5 is ~25 cent too low, B3 ~10 cent too low, e3 ~40 (!) cent too low.

Yes, almost all notes are - more or less - flat. I am pretty sure that the developers could fine-tune it, so I am attaching an excel chart with my calculations.

Cool, give me a prod when ready so it’ll hit Debian soon. Choir Aaaaaaaarghs is the most frequent sound I hear, so fixing this is worth a big (virtual) hug!
