Mixed time signatures - simpler mechanism? [EDITED FOR CLARIFICATION]
Hello.
Would it be possible to create a function that entered barlines every x beats? I've noticed that Musescore now creates polyrhythmic bars (where the duration of the measures in different parts are the same - and that is amazing, by the way) but what I specifically would like is to automate changing the position of the barlines for mixed meter parts (where the duration of the beats are the same, but the lengths of the measure is different). Can this be done through scripting, perhaps?

Maybe it's better to attach an example (a *.mscz file) and someone can give you some more precise information.
It seems to me that the process is already automatic.

Ah - that is not what I meant, and I might have mixed terms. I meant polyrhythmic parts, where separate parts are in different time signatures but have the same tempo. Here's a short, simple example which shows how this is currently rendered and using the method detailed in the documentation (https://musescore.org/en/node/254556).

This? I changed the first of the two tied crotchets' note head type to Half in the inspector, then hid the tie and the other crotchet.

Yes - I'm asking if the process used to render that type of notation can be automated, maybe through a plugin.

I wrote that document. I don't understand your question and I think the others here are having the same problem.

As I understand it: positions of barlines based on beats

Shoichi: that's correct. I did this using the documentation. I'm asking if (as a new feature) that process described in the documentation can be automated.

The notes tied across the barline in the example can be shown using a single half note / minim if you enable Style / General / Display note values across measure boundaries.

That's helpful!
What I was originally asking (as a future feature) was if the whole process could be automated: so for example
1) a user creates a score with multiple instruments
2) s/he selects a time signature (with Shift+Ctrl, maybe?) and drags it to a part
3) Musescore re-aligns the barlines for that part, and ensures that the note durations are correctly displayed within that part
