How To Add Sustain to a Piano Sound
Hi. Is there a way to add a sustain function to the piano sound so that when I play back a score, the tied and large-value notes will sustain like using a sustain pedal on a piano? I am not happy using the built-in sounds have have natural sustain. I want a clean piano sound that sustains.
Thank you for your help!

Add a pedal line

I did this and it did not add any sustain. I tried all of the pedals offered. I don't know what I'm doing wrong!

Upload a sample that does not work and we'll look at it.

Sure thing. Thank you! Here is a piece of one of my songs where two of the notes in the chord are tied over while the other two walk down. I want to be able to hear those tied notes through to the end of the chord .
Thanks, again!

It does sustain.
If you want the full velocity throughout the entire duration, you need a different instrument, like an organ.

To clarify what Jojo said, all notes played on the piano fade over time. The sustain pedal just makes the fade last longer for all the notes on the instrument while it is pressed. You will never get a steady note like on a clarinet or trumpet, or as Jojo suggested an organ.

Thank you. That's what I needed to know. I simply prefer the piano sound to the organ and all the other instruments that hold a stronger/longer sustain; I was hoping there was more I could do than what the regular default offers. Thanks, all, for taking the time to look at the sample and help me out!
Cheers!

Keep in mind, the louder the start the longer it takes for the note to totally fade. Since I don't know what's going on in the song, I'm not sure if you need to start louder or shorten the notes and repeat them or a combination so they will be more prominent.
Also, just to be clear: tied notes should already sustain. It is possible you are using a slur when you mean a tie? Or maybe you simply want a soundfont that has a longer natural sustain even without pedal? Every piano is different in this respect, and the default soundfont appears to be mimicing a piano with a relatively short sustain. Check the Handbook under "Soundfonts" and you will find quite a few alternatives, any one of which might serve your needs better.
