Drumkit plays as whistles and other percussive sounds rather than a drumset
I am relatively new to Musescore so sorry if I am missing something really basic but here goes:
I opened a mxl file in Musescore 2.3 which I had exported from Sibelius 7 and some of the instruments were playing as a piano when they shouldn't be (probably an error in converting from .sib to .mxl and shouldn't be too difficult to fix). Most notably, though, the drumkit was playing as a piano--despite being in a 5 line percussive clef. Eventually I worked out I needed to open the mixer and tick Drumset but this resulted in some whistle and other percussive sounds I didn't want for almost every drumset I selected--instead of a drumset sound.
How can I get my drum line to sound like an actual drumkit?
(It isn't that I have notated it wrong, is it?)

Unfortunately, from what I understand, SIbelius doesn't export proper drumset definitions in their MusicXML files, which is why we don't know how to import it. I think better results are obtained if you use the Dolet plugin for Sibelius?
To fix your current score will be a little bit of work, but if you can figure out which pitches need to be remapped, you can right-click one note, Select / More / Same pitch, then use the arrow keys to move them all at once, and repeat for each pitch that needs remapping.

Thanks. That mostly fixed my problem. So I guess it's a Sibelius bug then, not a Musescore one?

As far as I know. See also #57751: Import of MusicXML file with no drum set info should assume reasonable defaults
