Editing piano part

• Dec 21, 2018 - 21:26

I am rearranging some multi-part music for our family to play this year.
I am trying to add a piano part. I created the piano as linked staves(?)
I have the proper part in the bass clef line, but when I try to copy/paste a melody line into the piano treble clef, it copies, but also changes the bass clef part to that of the melody, too, instead of staying the accompaniment.
How can I just change (copy/paste) the treble clef line without the bass clef line changing, too?

I am fumbling through this, I normally just use the tool for working on tuba parts.

Thanks!

If you normally add a piano, it already comes with both staves.

A linked staff is meant to duplicate the notation from the staff its linked to (think normal + tablature scores) so it does what it's supposed to do. What you want is just a normal staff in the same instrument.

If you then want the barlines to be connected between those two staves, double click a barline in the upper stave and drag down the lower handle to encompass the 2nd stave. Then click on an empty space and all barlines for those two staves should follow.

I somehow totally missed you had a score attached. Did you really want the treble staff to play back with a transposition of one octave below notation?!

I added a regular piano and copied over both parts that were there + moved treble notes up an octave again. Then created a part for that newly added piano as well.
I left the Piano High/Low parts in there as is, so you can still review/compare as needed before removing them.
