removing the piano part
I rather ambitiously created a score of type vocal plus piano. I have been unable to fill in the piano part so I want to remove these blank bars and go back to a voice only score. How do I remove the blank piano part while retaining the voice part?

Go to the add instruments dialog and remove it there
The instruments dialog can be found by pressing i or looking in the view menu for instruments.

There is something I am doing wrong here. I want to delete the lower stave. I do this
press i - to get to instrument mode
click stave 2
click remove
click OK
stave 2 does not get removed and Muse score crashes. What am I doing wrong?

You didn't do anything wrong, you found a bug and should report it in https://musescore.org/en/node/add/project_issue?pid=1236.

Doesn't crash in the latest development builds, but does in 3.0, so seems fixed already
