Unable to Open File
I was working on a score the other day, and after I saved it, I closed the program. The next time I opened it, I clicked on the file and a message popped up, saying "Cannot read file:" and then the file name. It says that the file size is 1 KB as opposed to the others in the range of 15-40 KB. This has happened before on a different score of mine. How can I recover the file? How can I keep it from happening again?

Check from Preferences that automatic saving is active.
How can I keep it from happening again?
We wish we knew, some people seem to be doing a set of clicks or menu/preference selections that lead to this happening to them. Unfortunately, no one has been able to reproduce this so it can be trouble shot. Which version are you working on? I've not heard of this happening in version 3 yet. Since it's just out and a lot of people are still using version 2, knowing this might help us determine if it was accidentally fixed in the major code overhaul that is version 3.

Right now I'm still on version 2. My computer won't download 3 at the moment (my computer is old and barely works).

OT: You can try to revitalize it by downloading the ISO of Mint.
