Importing an old MS file without ruining previously formetted elements..

Hello,
Although in some posts I found similar questions mine still remains the same, unsolved.
I have been using an older version of Musescore (v.2#) to write a large scale orchestral work including some vocal solos and a choir.
The problem is that when I switched to a newer version of Musescore, all of the lyrics went far too below the parts where they were assigned to, as well as together with other score elements such as hairpins and nuences. I tried to open this older version files with various import options but the result was not changed.
Then I tried to do the necessary adjustments manually, yet in each time lyrics either stayed unaffected or again misplaced. In one attempt I was lucky to make them appear just as in the older version but that took a lot of time to adjust even one sentence, syllable by syllable.

My question is; is it possible to import an old Musescore file without any necessity to do endless adjustments. The point is they were already perfectly well formatted and cost a great deal of time while being written, I really really don't want to do those all over again for each vocal part and for all the rest of the score elements. There must be an easier solution I assume, something effecting all those elements and placing everything in right positions as in the source file?

Thank you very much for answers and wish you all the best.

No, it is not. Just keep MuseScore 2(.3.2) installed in parallel to MuseScore 3(.0.5) and use the former for minor edits of MuseScore 2 scores, the latter only for new scores and major edits of MuseScore 2 scores.

When I import a score, I always answer yes to using the version 3 features then press ctrl+a then ctrl+r to reset everything to it's default position.

I have adjusted many of the styles I don't like the defaults for and then saved the styles using Format->Save styles. Now when I import a score (or create a new one) I use Format->Load styles to set everything to default locations I prefer.

After this, my need for tweaking locations of items is minimized though not eliminated. There are some things that just don't work in both versions, mostly related to moving hairpins, like placing one inside of a slur. I also have to move dynamics above the staff manually in vocal scores, but it's easy enough to right click a dynamic, choose Select->All similar items in staff and press X to move them all at once. Or select all 4 vocal staves in an SATB and use select>All similar items in selection to move all of them at once.

So, the process is never 100% automatic, but it's not too tedious either.

In addition to the helpful advice given already - if you manually adjusted things - including style settings - in MuseScore 2 to work around the non-ideal defaults and collisions that otherwise occur, then it is true you'll need to revisit those in MuseScore 3, which has much better defaults and collision avoidance. You mention lyrics specifically, often people used large margins in an attempt to preemptively avoid collisions. In MuseScore this is no longer necessary and indeed counterproductive. So got to Format / Style / Lyrics and reset those to the default.

Feel free to attach a score you are having problems and people will be happy sow you how to get it into shape efficiently.
