Can't edit a changed instrument in the mixer.
In my piece, I changed the instrument from oboe to metallic synthesizer. I then went into the mixer to change its settings and I wasn't able to.

If the metallic synthesizer is in the unpitched instruments, then you need to know you cannot change between pitched and unpitched instruments in the same staff. You must use a different staff for both and hide empty staves to make it look like the same instrument in the score.

I don't understand at all. You need to start over, probably attach a score.
