How to delete bars
I started a score with too many bars. I have had very difficult time to find out how to delete them. I searched in the user interface as well as in the online documentation, but found nothing.
I tried selecting the bars and 'cut' them, but nothing happened.
I tried selecting the bars and right clicking and 'delete', but nothing happened.
If there is a way to delete extra bars, it is well hidden and not documented. There should be a menu entry to delete a whole bar and make it disappear altogether. Also, the function of the above two operations ("cut" and "delete") should be made more obvious in the user interface.
I came across a forum thread with a user experiencing the very same problem. Someone replied to use CTRL + delete. It worked. However, the above points still remain valid. It shouldn't be so difficult to figure out how to perform a simple operation...
Thank you for a great software which I recently discovered with great pleasure :)
Using musescore 1.0, kubuntu package.

It is clearly documented in the handbook: http://musescore.org/en/handbook/measure-operations

Yes indeed Jojo. But almost impossible to find anywhere in the handbook, without your helpful reference. The handbook suffers from its lack of a decent search facility.
If I've missed such a gem, perhaps you would point me to it!
Thanks.
Whoho, a reply almost 6 years later ;-)

Whoho a reply after almost six days, from a chap who also cannot find a helpful gem of a search facility.
Select/open handbook and enter search topic, e.g. "delete measure", this results in https://musescore.org/en/search/handbook?keys=%22delete%20measure%22 and there you have it. No rocket science ;-)
"delete bar" draws blank though.
Anyway, my point is that the issue tracker is not the place to ask support questions, please use the forum instead
select bars - right click on selected bars - click delete selected bars.

Or simply select bars and click Ctrl+Delete.

trying to find an answer for this that doesn't involve ages in the "handy" handbook and i just find answers like this. stop being that person. you could have just handed him the link and got him on his way but you had to throw a remark. you had to be the one above.
A complaint in the original post was that the way to delete a measure is not documented and the answer was a link to the undocumented answer in the documentation. Unfortunately the original post was in the wrong language. The manual is in American English.
So from what I've gathered from the comments, it's this:
To just delete the contents of the bar press delete.
To delete the bars themselves you press ctrl + delete.
Sweet!

Exactly. This thread is also very long for some reason. However, I find the Ctrl + delete the quickest so far.
It is pretty simple.

Nah man, I was just saying it was much easier than the other solutions.
