Parts - creating multiple transpositions for single instrument
I've downloaded a Brass Quintet arrangement (https://musescore.com/user/12642511/scores/5858210) which is scored for trumpets in Bb, Horn in F, Trombone in C, Tuba in C. These are pretty standard, but I'd like to additionally print out the Horn part in Eb, Trombone in Bb and Tuba in Eb for players from a brass band rather than orchestral background. I know I can use the Stave/Part Properties right-click menu to change the transposition for the instrument, and I can tweak the clef from bass to treble, but then I lose the "orchestral" transposition. Is there a way I can have both?

if I understand, you want to have the first parts , and also, the "news".......simply enter new parts for your "new" instruments, and copy and paste , you will have both.....

But the "new" part, for example, "Trombone in Bb", is identical to "Trombone in C" so is there a way to link the "new" stave to the old one so it always play the same (concert-pitch) notes? Copy-n-paste will cause extra work if I ever need to tweak the part.

Do you use the "Concert pitch " button" , on the top.

Yes, I'm aware of the "Concert Pitch Button", but that doesn't help in this situation. Consider the Horn part. Right now it's in F, and when I "generate parts" I get a "Horn in F" part along with the trumpets, trombone and tuba. Okay so far. But I'd also like "generate parts" to generate a "Horn in Eb" part which is identical to "Horn in F" except for the transposition.
Similarly for trombone I need "Trombone in C" and "Trombone in Bb" parts and for tuba I need "Tuba in C" and "Bass in Eb".
I can do this manually by tweaking the stave/instrument properties, generating the PDFs, then throwing away the modified score, but I'm looking for something a bit more automagical and permanent. "Linked staves" might do the job, but I haven't worked out how to use them properly yet. I also need to add some instruments, I think, which will involve hacking the "instruments.xml" file - though to be honest I'm surprised there isn't already a full set of brass band instruments.

Ahah! The instruments aren't maybe such a problem, because the "Change Instrument" popup has a Category drop-down I hadn't noticed before (be kind, I a noobie!) It doesn't have "Brass Band" as a category but if you select "All Instruments" then the "Brass" list grows to include all the Horn, Trombone and Tuba transpositions I need, so if I can work out how to marry these with "linked staves" then I think my work will be done!

I wouldn't get your hopes regaridng using linked staves - having the same notes with two different transposition is just going to cause problems (same as trying to have different transpositions for score and part). Better, I think, to just add the new staves to the score, then copy & paste the contents to them. You can always make them invisible later via the same Edit / Instruments dialog.
