Bass Drum Sounds
I'm not sure exactly what is causing it but I'm not getting any Marching Bass Drum sounds in Musescore 3. I've checked that it isn't a computer problem and I can hear other instruments in musescore just not the Bass Drum.

I now have sound but I'm getting an assortment of random percussion instead of the Marching Bass Drums. I'm assuming this means I have to download the soundfont for it?

MuseScore comes with a default marching bass drum instrument definition that works with the default soundfont. but if you're using the special MDL bass drum instrument, you do also need the MDL soundfont. Normally they come packaged together as part of the MDL extension.

I realized I was downloading a score from Musescore 2.3.2. I can get bass sounds in both Musescore 3 and 2 except for when I’m looking at this score

There was also a change to a couple of the marching instruments at some point, you might need to go to View / Mixer and switch the sound to OldMarchingBass (or if it's set on that, maybe switch back to the regular one).

I went through and checked, but I'm still not getting any sound from either of the Bass Drum Soundfonts, both in V.3 and V.2.

Could be the score has a custom drumset definition designed for other soundfont entirely (eg, MDL). If you attach the score we understand and assist better.

I figured it out. I’m not sure why but I reinstalled the extension and it worked.
