Problem with Tie
I don't know if this is user error or a bug.
Compare measures 1 and 2 in the first screen shot to the same measures in the second screen shot. I don't know how it can put six beats in a four beat measure and take the tie away!!
TIA for any help.

As I'm trying to find a workaround for this problem, I'm finding it's every tie that crosses a barline. Is there some funky setting I don't know about that forces this?
Thanks!
Jan

Looks like you'e enabled an experimtal feature for early music, Style... > Score > Display note values accross measure boundaries (EXPERIMENTAL, early music only!)
IMHO that EXPERIMENTAL should go though...
Hmm maybe not, it doesn't support dotted longa yet.

As often...I didn't understand :(

No. Did you look at my attached screen shot? I'm trying to tie a whole note in a 4/4 measure to the first half note in the next measure, again, 4/4. The system pulls the half note from the second measure and puts its value into the first measure, changing my whole note to a dotted whole note.

Like Jojo said?

Here is the score. I have gone in and replaced the ties with slurs, as that's the only way to make it look right. I don't care about playback. I'm a collaborative pianist and I need to see my vocalist's notes along with my accompaniment, and the score is not available.

Indeed you have enabled Style... > Score > Display note values accross measure boundaries (EXPERIMENTAL, early music only!), disable and replace those slors with ties again

Like a charm. I had never seen that setting before. Thank you, Jojo, for knowing your MuseScore stuff!

You're not the first user having accidentially enabled that ;-)
