When you enter lyrics below full notes, the alignment is inconsistent if the syllable is tied to another syllable by a hyphen or melisma. It seems that the alignment depends on the stem direction (assuming that the full note had a stem, of course). If the note would have an upwards stem, the lyrics seem to be placed too far to the right.
Other notes (e.g. quarter notes) seem not to be affected.
I'm using:
OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.4.1.9660, revision: 20414b2
Example (lyrics in Alto and Bass are placed too far to the right):
See the attached .mscz file for the example.

Good insight that it's connected to the "stem", since that is what we use to help us align the note with other notes in other voices, staves, etc. So, the workaround is to press "X" to flip the "stem" the other way. Meanwhile, there are other related issues connected to this algorithm, but also lots of interconnected pieces to the puzzle so things to hopefully not mess up along the way.

Thanks ;-) ... Well, being a software developer myself, I'm much too used to badly written bug reports ;-) ... so I try my very best to write better ones.
