I was told to file this issue as a suggestion after posting a forum topic in feature requests. This is just a suggestion for a time-saving feature. It would be nice to have the option of choosing which beat would be used for the tempo in the New Score window, e.g. the minim beat for 2/2 or 4/2 and the dotted crotchet for compound time signatures, or the quaver note for 4/8 and 5/8 time signatures etc.
Comments
Workaround, choose a tempo marking from the Palette under Tempo.

If there is a choice of note to specify the beat, it would probably make sense to set the tempo in the new score dialogue after choosing a time signature rather than before as it is now.
Having the time signature specified first would mean we could have something like a menu to choose the note with a sensible choice base on the time signature (e.g. crotchet for 4/4, minim for 2/4 or alla breve, dotted crotchet for 6/8. etc.) selected on entry but allowing a different choice should that not be the appropriate choice for the user's particular circumstances.
