Unable to open latest version of Musescore
This issue appears to have been reported earlier but I want to indicated that I do not have the Pro version.
After the upgrade the application launches normally but only stays open a few seconds. If I try to open it again I get a message that reads " The previous session quit unexpectedly. Restore session? Yes or No." It does not matter which box I select, the result is the same, it will not stay open.
I reported this previously by email and I received a registration number 99489.
I tried to reboot the computer but the result is the same. I am not having any issues with the computer and all other applications are working fine.

There is no pro version or the MuseScore program and there is in email you could report issues to.
Try reverting to factory settings, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/revert-factory-settings#Via_command… and it that doesn't help try -w instead of -F

I am a little concerned about taking this route.
Right now the way I am operating Musescore is: I open an existing score that I have saved, I then create a new score and proceed as normal. Although cumbersome it seems to work. However, the Icon that I have on my Windows screen is inoperable as stated above. I am running the latest version of Windows 10.

There is nothing to be concerned about reverting to factory specs. It can clear up a multitude of problems, if they exist. Do you have the Start Center active? It has been causing problems for some people. If so, turn it off and see if your desktop icon works. If not, you can delete it and make a new one.

Given that you can open an existing score, you are probably hit by a bug in the start center.
After opening MuseScore by opening a score, go into
Edit → Preferences → General
and untickShow start center
. Now close MuseScore normally.Opening it from now on via the shortcut should work.
