Hyphens /Lyrics
Why will no hyphens enter between word syllables on Lyrics entering mode? There should not just be a space between syllables. I cannot get MS2+ to do this on this song score.i tried many times even on the first few2 words, "Karmic lOVER" Please see attachment.

Finally figured it out, thank you! But why did MS2+ get to have such a slower, cumbersome way of typing in the syllables and dashes, etc.?! I'm glad I did not have to do that for an entire opera that I entered on the former MS.

There is no difference in lyrics entry, a simple dash advances to the next sylable and adds the dash between them. If however the score is to condesend these daseh are not shown anymore. Strech it out more, like having just 4 measures instead of 5 and you see them again.

OK. Got it, and Marc's explanation clinched it. Very cool! Thanks for your reply.

Indeed, the hyphen *is* there if you simply type it. MuseScore just chooses not to display it unless there is room, so in crowded scores you might not always see the hyphens., Some editors do publish music that way, although others will always add extra space to be sure there is room for the hyphen. Older versions of MuseScore would always add the extra space, but the current version tries to be more efficient. A future version of MuseScore will provide both options.

Oh, OK Marc, now I understand what is going on that is different from my older version! I could see the spacing thing was different, and didn't know where the dashes/hyphens disappeared to. Good that a future version will have both options. I'm glad that I can still select and manually space/move words around when necessary .
