Improved Selection
It would be very useful to include copy, cut, and paste icons on the file operations panel
Also it would be nice to have an easy way to select an entire staff so it could be copied to a different staff or file.
Perhaps even a copy staff could be added when right clicking on a measure in the staff

Copying an entire staff already can be done easily - click first measure, Shift+Ctrl+End to extend selection to the end.
This capability is something I really miss and which I was accustomed to using in Finale. Ostinati and rhythm sections are a real pain to copy and past bar-by-bar.
Mmm..I just saw the post above explaining how it can be done. Shift-control-end is a lot of buttons for a small operation that is often used. It also just runs to the end of the staff, what about copying a specified section?

Select the first note of your section. Shift select the last note of your selection. Selection done. This works to include several staves if you select the beginning note on the topmost desired staff and the end note on the bottom.
Shift select is very handy indeed.

A little clarification. If you select a measure and then shift-click a measure with the same number then ctrl-shift-end it will select everything from the first measure to the end of the line that you shift-click(ed).

Also, in case it wasn't clear: Ctrl+Shift+End is actually how one copies to end of document in all Windows or Linux applications (Cmd instead of Ctrl for Mac) - it's not some unique / obscure MuseScore-ism. End moves the cursor to end of line, Ctrl+End moves to end of document, adding Shift to any cursor command selects while moving the cursor. MuseScore is simply adhering to decades-old universal standards here. Similarly, clicking one spot in document and Shift + clicking another is the universal way virtually all applications select ranges using the mouse.

Thanks folks. Actually after writing my message I worked out how to select sections and parts from several staves together. I should have been more patient because it wasn't even difficult!
MuseScore 2 has made me drop Finale. The latter was a CPU and MuseScore is so light even when playing back a concert work.
I tip my hat.
