What is the structure of fugue writing.
So, I am currently working on a suite for string orchestra. I intend for the second movement to be a fugue. I need to know the structure in writing a fugue. I know what a fugue is, however, I need to know its structure so that when I try it, it won't sound like empty notes.

A B A1
Where:
A = exposition, move towards dominant, or parallel.
B = a kind of development, modulative
A1 = a kind of reprise, includes stretta and ev. coda.

To write a good fugue needs an excellent knowledge in harmony, voice leading, vocal counterpoint and instrumental counterpoint. You can't do it on first try, as you cannot play violin on the first try.
Suggestion: copy by hand 20 Bach fugues from WTP.
