MusicXML manipulations - not just for MuseScore
I was wondering if anyone was, or knew of anyone working on MusicXML manipulations?
By this I mean (say) take a 12 staff composition and break it down into parts so these can be printed for individual musicians.
I've also been playing with Audiveris and while good it only takes a page at a time and it would be nice to be able to stitch the bits together with ease.
This could conceivably be a plug-in for MuseScore but I dont know if JavaScript is quite the thing.
If there’s anyone with ideas on this contact me as I may be up for this as a project...

If you just want to create parts. You can load the MusicXML file in MuseScore and go to File -> Parts.
For more manipulation on MusicXML, you might want to check Music21. You can pass by the #musescore IRC channel on freenode.net for more development discussion.

Thank you for mentioning Music21. I was looking for a way to read a MusicXML file saved from Musescore and extract the note data for another program.
Who else has used Musescore?
Thanks
Charles
If you are interested in developing for MusicXML outside of MuseScore, you may want to sign up for the MusicXML developer mailing list at:
http://www.recordare.com/musicxml/mailing-list
At the moment the discussions are focused on finalizing MusicXML 3.0, but we get many general-purpose questions about MusicXML development. There are lots of experienced developers on that list who can help out.
Music21 is an excellent suggestion for analysis-oriented MusicXML application work.
