Musescore on Linux (Wine)
Being unable to build MS2.0.3 from source on Ubuntu 12.04 (libraries too old) and the AppImage package failing with segfaults, I executed the Windows .msi installer in Ubuntu Linux 12.04 (64-bit) from the command line using Wine:
wine msiexec /i MuseScore-2.0.3.msi
It worked and I've been running MS2.0.3 with Wine 1.6.1 for most of the day now with no significant problems. I haven't tried everything, of course, but all I've found so far is that printing scores directly to my printer gives unpredictable results, however exporting scores to PDF or PNG and works fine.
Anyway, I thought I'd document it here, and I'd be curious what others have experienced trying MuseScore with Wine.

Thanks for posting this, I'm glad it basically works for you via Wine. I'm sorry the AppImage didn't work for you, but Ubuntu 12.04 is getting quite old and you should really consider updating to 16.04, or at least 14.04, if at all possible, both for the ability to install the latest problems and, more importantly, for the latest security updates.

12.04 is an LTS version, supported with security updates until April 2017, but you're right, I'm really going to have to move off it soon. I was pleased to find that MS2 worked so well under Wine, though. It got me through a really important, time-sensitive project yesterday.

I just noticed a rather unfortunate typo in my first post. :)
