length for final meausre

I am new to Musescore, and I am working on a new piece of music. It is in 4/4 time and begins with a one-beat pickup note. The last measure has 1 note with 3 counts in it. Then it goes back to the pickup note for the 2nd verse. I have no idea how to make that final measure only 3 counts with this program.
