What is this "p" symbol? Is it Piano?
This is in an old score.
I think it's piano but there are other dynamics in the score that are typeset the way I'd expect them, so I'm not sure.
Here is the "P" in the line.
Did the typesetter just loose or break his "p" and substitute it?

I figured it was intended to mean piano, but sometimes on these old scores (this one is 1906) I find some unexpected symbols.
I'm scoring from a Charles Fonteyn Manney arrangement.
